Our Story

How it all started...

Pastor Chris Miller dreamed of planting a church with a simple goal: to help people connect with God so that they might reach their full potential. With the help of the initial Dream Team, 28 people committed to seeing this dream become a reality, Genesis Church began March 22, 2009. That Sunday 107 people attended the first service at the Old Gibbs Memorial Library in Evans, Georgia.

From the beginning, Genesis has focused on reaching those who do not know God personally and building relationships through Small Groups. The life-giving message of the Gospel, the passion and joy of Sunday service, and the simple style of Genesis brought immediate growth. In our first year, the church grew to 225 people in weekly attendance, and 60 people committed their lives to Christ. At the same time, we gave nearly 15% of our income to missions.

We are a church devoted to changing lives and invite you to be a part; the pages of our story are still being written. Come and believe with us and together let’s dream of the possibilities. We invite you to see for yourself how exciting church can be when the focus is simple and people are free to go after God with passion!

Expanding the vision...

"Our Dream" is about creating a space for us to help a new generation of people become fully developed followers of Christ. That is why we are purchasing land, dreaming and building our own worship center.

Where we are headed...

We believe we will see exponential growth that radiates outward in our new location. To realize this vision we will need to pay off out land and build a new worship center to serve our church and community.

Our 5 favorite things about our dream to move to this location are:
1. The purchase gives Genesis ownership in a community where we can serve our local area.
2. Genesis can have a place where ministry can flow from us into our community and global missions efforts.
3. We are closer to no more rent. In 12 years, we have been able to give $1.2 million away in rent. Our finances will go to our dream and not someone else's.
4. Our new land and facilities will be a place of our design for the community. It will have a worship center, student center, children's area, and a recreational area filled for outdoor activities.
5. We're growing and our new land will allow us to welcome new families into our church. As we grow we are committed to help people find a small group, a place to serve, get connected and plugged into the life of Genesis Church.
